· August 1949

This document is not a pulp magazine but a declassified U.S. Air Force UFO report (Project 10073 record). It records a sighting near Tampico, Mexico on August 1, 1949, when a motorist traveling from Mexico City observed a yellowish, flat-bottomed object with a bright rounded nose crossing the road ahead at approximately 350 miles per hour. The witness noted the object trailed pinpoints of fire, displayed no conventional aircraft lights, and maintained a straight course at constant altitude over roughly five seconds of observation. The report analyzes possible explanations—including jet aircraft or a rotating power-generating device—but the witness concluded the object resembled neither shooting stars nor any known aircraft he had observed.
