# Museum Catalog Note: Project Blue Book UFO Investigation Files

This document is a consolidated U.S. Air Force investigation report from August-November 1949 concerning multiple sightings of unidentified aerial objects. The primary incident occurred near West Yellowstone and Hebgen Lake, Montana on August 9, 1949. An observer at Hebgen Lake Lodge reported witnessing approximately eight objects traveling at roughly 1,500 mph, featuring no visible propulsion systems, fins, or stabilizers, emitting a continuous siren-like sound. Six objects reportedly faded from view while two allegedly crashed in the surrounding area; a three-day search with grappling hooks recovered no physical evidence. Subsequent interviews and meteorological data collection by Air Force personnel attributed many August sightings to a Perseid meteor shower. Additional investigation reports document sightings from Camp Hood, Texas and Kirtland Air Force Base during the same period, with observers describing bright lights and unusual flight characteristics.
