The incident occurred on February 3, 1957, near Marrero, Louisiana, above the Huey P. Long Bridge area. Multiple civilian observers reported three objects in V-formation displaying one white light and one red flashing light described as appearing like a "sparkler." Radar at Moisant Airport detected nebulous targets in the vicinity. The objects hovered initially, then accelerated and dispersed upon the approach of two Air National Guard aircraft. Air Force investigators concluded the sightings likely represented aircraft, noting numerous ANG planes were making approach runs to Moisant from various vectors during the observation period.
