This classified military documentation records multiple independent observations of an unidentified flying object reported on October 28, 1958, in the Charleston, South Carolina area. Two Air Force airmen stationed at Charleston Air Force Base observed a white ball of fire approximately dime-sized with an orange tail the length of a pencil, descending rapidly before burning out and briefly reappearing over 1-3 seconds. A second airman in the Flight Service area reported similar phenomena with variations in duration. A civilian truck driver near Kalelyville, South Carolina witnessed what he described as a burning jet aircraft with flames engulfing the fuselage, visible for 10-15 seconds. A shipyard worker had previously reported a basketball-sized red glowing object with a thirty-foot blue streak tail near Charleston Naval Base. Weather data showed clear conditions.
