· August 1961

This document is not a pulp magazine but a Project 10073 Record Card—a U.S. Air Force UFO sighting report form dated August 30, 1961, from Naha Air Base, Okinawa. The report documents a five-minute observation of approximately twelve objects appearing separately, forming a trail roughly four feet long at arm's length. The witness noted an increasing glow near a star, with objects visible at 30 degrees elevation and 200 degrees azimuth, disappearing at various angles. Flight paths consisted of long arching curves with several abrupt angular directional changes despite no apparent speed variation. The evaluator concluded the sighting represented a meteor shower—specifically the August shower extending into September—attributing the apparent motion away from the witness to optical illusion, rather than classifying objects as aircraft or unknown phenomena.
