# "Sons of the Brave" - Robin Hood Library
This serial adventure features Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest. The opening chapter, "In the Woods of Deepdene," depicts Hood reunited with Maid Marian, who recounts her anxieties during his absence. Friar Tuck returns from a nearby village with supplies carried by his donkey Balaam, encountering Simon Patch, a destitute jester fleeing the Black Wolf—a tyrannical baron who has seized Sir John Claire's castle, enslaved its garrison, and imposed arbitrary tolls on the local population. Friar Tuck, identifying himself as the "Fighting Friar," assures Patch that Robin Hood has come specifically to punish the Black Wolf and redress his crimes. The friar conducts Patch to Hood's camp, introducing him to Little John.
Chapter Two shifts to the Black Wolf's castle, where the baron plans a banquet to coerce his new tenants into swearing fealty, threatening violence against those who refuse. His scrivener Lansonne is dispatched with armed men to deliver invitations throughout the countryside, meeting widespread Saxon resistance.
