# Robin Hood and the Lads in Green

This issue contains the opening installment of a Robin Hood serial featuring adventure and romance in Sherwood Forest. The narrative follows Maid Marian and Martha as they encounter Norman nobility while sewing in the forest. When the nobleman Outram de Saye attempts to coerce kisses from the maidens, the mysterious Friar Tuck—revealed as Robin Hood's ally—intervenes, wielding a quarterstaff to defeat the Normans and their retainers with remarkable combat skill. Little John and other foresters emerge to capture the nobles. Robin Hood himself, recently returned from absence, receives the prisoners at his forest cave headquarters. The story emphasizes conflict between Saxon commoners and Norman overlords, with the outlaws positioned as protectors of the vulnerable against aristocratic exploitation.
