# Catalog Note
This issue of Amazing Stories contains "Ghost of Mars," a science-fiction serial by an unidentified author. The story centers on Don Hargreaves, an executive at Martian Metals, who escorts Elsa Thorwaldson, the wealthy boss's daughter, through mining operations on Mars. The narrative establishes tensions between Hargreaves's ethical concerns about dangerous working conditions, inadequate safety measures, and the exploitation of low-wage Asian laborers, and the indifferent attitudes of company management. The plot introduces a supernatural mystery: a ghostly Martian in pale blue, radiant clothes appears in deep mine tunnels with a spectral dog, pointing and commanding "Seize!" at intruders. Multiple workers and scientist Professor Winterton have vanished investigating the phenomenon. When Elsa insists on descending into the deepest mines to investigate the ghost herself, she and Hargreaves encounter increasingly hostile behavior from Burmese and other Asian workers, suggesting brewing unrest.
