# "The Angel of the Docks"

This mystery serial by Marcus H. Waring ("Sergeant Mark") follows the Spotter Trio—Jim Royal, Stumps, and Bobby Blossom—investigating a murder. Jim and Stumps discover a drowned young woman in New York Bay with strangling marks on her neck. A peculiar ring bearing two crossed arrows with diamonds triggers Stumps's recognition: he once served under Captain Block on a West India vessel and knew his daughter Elnora, who owned this ring. They deduce the body may be Elnora's daughter. The trio pledges to pursue the case. Later, young Bobby Blossom encounters a strange woman on an East River pier claiming to be the drowned victim searching for her own body and the valuable ring—her deceased mother's—she wore when drowning. Her demeanor and inexplicable knowledge suggest supernatural elements or severe psychological disturbance.
