This pulp serial, "The Boy Pards; or, Dainty Lance Unmasks" by Joseph E. Badger Jr., follows the capture of the Mad Hermit, his daughter Sibyl (called the "Snow Sprite"), and their giant servant Hercules by a band of outlaws. A mysterious desperado leader recognizes the hermit as "Howard Glenn," a man with a dark criminal past, triggering a violent fit. The outlaw captures Sibyl and forces her to ride with him, promising her father will follow. The serial features Western action including gunfights, a mule attack, and mysterious revelations about the hermit's concealed identity. Hercules survives a deliberate wounding intended to incapacitate rather than kill him.
