# THE TIGERS OF NO MAN'S LAND

This Beadle and Adams dime novel by Lieut. A. K. Sims concerns lawless No Man's Land between Kansas and Texas. A mysterious peddler arrives in the frontier town of Eli selling cheap jewelry and trinkets. Emerald Green, a reckless Irish gambler and suspected criminal, observes the peddler and becomes convinced he is actually Detective Bob Brentwood in disguise—a man Green believes he previously killed. Saffron Sol, a mysterious money-lender in town, reaches the same conclusion. Green approaches Mayor Grizzly Martin with the information and convinces him to arrest the peddler on a trumped-up charge of unlicensed street vending. With the peddler jailed, Green plants a dynamite time-bomb beneath the jail building, set to explode in thirty minutes, intending to eliminate the detective and establish an alibi by mingling with townspeople beforehand.
