In the opening chapters, Hyena ambushes a stage coach, kills the driver who resists him, and kidnaps a well-featured woman passenger while stealing her baggage containing riches. Three U.S. cavalry soldiers pursue the robber and captive across the prairie toward distant hills. A young officer leads the chase, determined to capture the notorious bandit before he reaches terrain where his reported fifty-man gang may aid him. The woman, though captive, demonstrates composure and riding skill, maintaining silent dignity amid her kidnapping.
