# Beadle's Dime Library No. 98: "Red Rob, the Boy Road-Agent" by O.S. Coombs
This Western adventure serial follows an emigrant train of three white families and their Black servants traveling through southern Colorado toward wealth in the mountains. The protagonists include Albert St. Kenelm, a former Confederate major, and his seventeen-year-old sister Octavia, known for her fearlessness and mischief. Octavia secretly rides ahead toward Conejos village and encounters a striking eighteen-year-old cavalier dressed as a wealthy ranchero. The mysterious youth warns her of dangers from Apache and Cheyenne raiders and mentions the notorious outlaw "Red Rob," suggesting Octavia herself would interest such criminals. He departs cryptically at a crossroads toward Loma, leaving Octavia intrigued and unsettled by their meeting.
