# Museum Catalog Note

This serial by Buffalo Bill (Gen. Wm. F. Cody) concerns Captain Adrian Valdos, a handsome Texas officer at Fort Blank, and scout Kit Carrol, who recognizes him as a man from a past criminal enterprise. Carrol attempts to blackmail Valdos for ten thousand dollars, claiming he was involved with the outlaw Elmo, though Valdos insists his erring brother—not he—was the notorious masked bandit. When Carrol reveals his knowledge to Colonel Monastery, the commandant demands Valdos disprove the charges or face official consequences. Meanwhile, Valdos courts the colonel's daughter Marcelite, though she resists their engagement despite his past heroism. The plot mixes frontier military intrigue, hidden identities, and romantic tension, with accusations of criminality threatening the protagonist's military career and honor.
