# Miner-Banker's Death Trump

This issue opens Miner-Banker's Death Trump by W. H. Manning, a mining-town drama set in Climax Claim. Asher Bradstreet, chief clerk to banker David Morrell, returns from business to announce his ambitious plan: leaving to establish his own banking enterprise at Castle Cliff. When Rosamond Morrell, his employer's daughter, responds with indifference rather than encouragement, Asher learns from servant Junius Green that a French count, Louis Levere, has captivated the household and Rosamond particularly. A mysterious letter arrives from Helen Chester summoning Asher urgently. At her home, Helen reveals she recognizes Asher's true identity: Gideon Gath, son of Harmer Gath, a man the town leaders suspect of murder. Helen warns that authorities plan imminent arrest, expecting resistance. The serial continues with further developments unspecified in the fragmentary OCR text.
