# Roy, the Boy Cruiser: The Water Wolf Wreckers
This serial by Col. Prentiss Ingraham, from Golden Days (April 9, 1890), follows Captain Roy Bonodel, a youthful commander of an unmarked, heavily-armed schooner operating off Florida's coast. Despite commanding superior firepower, Roy refuses to attack merchant vessels or return fire on American naval cruisers, adhering to an undisclosed mission. When his discontented first lieutenant, Merton, leads a mutiny to seize the ship and become pirates, Roy quells the uprising by firing grapeshot from a pivot gun, killing the mutineers. Later, spotting an Indian warrior besieged by armed men on shore—identified as Reef Buccaneers—Roy lands his boat crew to aid the lone fighter, opening fire on the attackers and ordering his men to assault the group while the Indian joins the counterattack.
