Panther Dick's Death-Leap

Β· December 30, 1891

# Catalog Note: Beadle's Dime Novels, Vol. XXXII, No. 416 (December 1891)

This issue features "Hurricane Kit and His Pard," a Western adventure serial by A. F. Holt. The narrative follows Kit Carroll, a nineteen-year-old frontiersman nicknamed Hurricane Kit, who rescues a dying trapper named Apache Tom from desperadoes in Southern Colorado. Before expiring, Tom reveals he discovered an ancient treasure cave filled with gold artifacts in Arizona and entrusts Kit with a map concealed in his boot sole. Panther Dick, a notorious outlaw whose gang Kit had previously defeated, captures Kit while examining the map, binds him to a pine tree, and flees with the treasure map. Left helpless in the storm-ravaged wilderness, Kit confronts an approaching pack of wolves drawn by the scent of blood from the dead trapper. The serial continues across multiple chapters, propelling the protagonist toward confrontation with the outlaw band over possession of the hidden gold.
