Sol Ginger, the Giant Trapper: The Flower of the Blackfeet by Albert W. Aiken is a frontier adventure serial. Two men—Roderick Wright, a middle-aged schemer, and Harry Courtney, a young fortune-seeker recently bankrupted—meet aboard the steamer Mountain Belle at Fort Benton on the Missouri River. Wright reveals he seeks an unspecified "treasure" in Blackfoot country worth fifty thousand dollars, offering Courtney ten thousand to join the expedition. Courtney recruits Sol Ginger, an elderly trapper known for exceptional woodcraft and reluctance to shed blood, to guide them into hostile territory. Wright cryptically indicates his treasure is animate—something that "has a voice" but will be taken "by force" if necessary. The narrative includes extensive exposition on frontier life, Native American capabilities, and mining prospects in the Montana wilderness.
