# Catalog Note

Ojo en la Oscuridad (Eye in the Darkness) by Curtis Garland, issue 273 in Editorial Bruguera's weekly Selección Terror collection (May 1978), is a crime-horror serial. The opening chapter introduces Gladys Oakley, a young, limping seamstress employed by Miss Thorpe in the village of Abbeyville. After receiving a bonus for overtime work, Gladys walks home through darkening streets on a cold, windy evening. On an isolated hilltop road, she becomes aware of rustling bushes that seem to follow her movements despite the absence of wind. Realizing she is being stalked, she attempts to run but stumbles due to her disability. An unseen pursuer emerges from the underbrush—a shadowy figure in a cape or overcoat—and attacks her with violent strangulation, his bloodshot eye visible in gaslight as he throttles her to death on the solitary path.
