# "Las Orgias de la Gaviota Canibal" by Ralph Barby
This horror serial, issue 307 in the Selección Terror collection (1979), depicts an occult murder disguised as theatrical ceremony. Duchess Carla Giacomonova, nicknamed "the Seagull," hosts clandestine masked banquets at her estate where society's elite engage in ritualistic depravity. During one such gathering presided over by the sinister Baron Gorniev—a hypnotist and occultist—a beautiful young woman is ritually murdered with a ceremonial knife as part of an "assimilation ceremony." The victim's body is later revealed to be an elaborate cake. Police commissioner Fournier and young officer Michel Armé raid the estate but find themselves humiliated when the elaborate deception is exposed. Despite the obvious criminality, the guests remain masked and protected by connections; the police withdraw empty-handed while the assembled guests mock them.
