# Cepo Mortal

Ada Coretti's Cepo Mortal (Deadly Trap), issue 399 in Bruguera's Selección Terror series, presents a locked-room mystery centered on inheritance and murder. The narrative opens with Paul Moore's death and the assembly of his five nieces and nephews—Melissa and Diana (daughters of his younger brother) and Bernard, Michael, and Dennis (sons of his elder brother)—for the reading of his will at his isolated Fostermann mansion. Six months prior, Moore had announced plans to bequeath his 500,000-pound fortune to his wife Marta after her own substantial inheritance made his bequest unnecessary. During the celebration, Marta switched champagne glasses with Paul, consuming poison intended for him. Now the relatives gather, aware that one of them committed the murder. The story progresses as they arrive at the gloomy estate, encounter three hunchbacked servants (Peter, Robert, and an unnamed third), and begin discussing Paul's mysterious intentions, suspecting his will contains conditions or revelations connected to Marta's death.
