This Spanish pulp terror tale follows private investigators Terry Daniels and Randall Scott, broke and desperate in their shabby apartment office. When a visitor arrives, they initially fear a creditor, but Eric McKeown offers them twenty-five thousand dollars to persuade elderly Mrs. Graham to sell her property near Brooksville, California. The land—featuring Salmac, a mansion McKeown wants for a proposed Clover Center commercial complex—is crucial to the Brady Company's development plans. Mrs. Graham, however, recently converted Salmac into a hotel and refuses all offers. McKeown provides five thousand dollars upfront and gives the investigators five weeks to change her mind through legal or semi-legal means. Daniels accepts confidently, claiming he has ideas. The pair plan to flee their apartment with the money before creditors arrive, heading to Brooksville to stay at Salmac Hotel while devising their scheme.
