# Fire and Butterflies Ralph Barby; Selección Terror No. 586 (Editorial Bruguera, 1984)

Five young women—Angie, Claudine, Brigitte, Sophy, and Nina—are trapped in their car during a torrential storm. A mysterious stranger appears, guides them through dangerous terrain across ancient bridges to a vast, ancient mansion. Inside the dark, cold, moldy building, they find a grand salon with an enormous fireplace and old oil paintings. Their host vanishes immediately after admitting them. When the women search for food and the man's whereabouts, they discover a cellar door; from below comes an inhuman groaning sound that terrifies them into slamming it shut. The story centers on the growing unease and dread as the young women remain trapped in this mysterious house, isolated by flooding and darkness, with an absent or sinister host and the frightening sounds emanating from below.
