Parallel scenes introduce Richard Somervelle, a skilled American intelligence operative, being briefed on a dangerous classified mission: dismantling and extracting the Turkish missiles in pieces before their existence can be confirmed at international disarmament talks. He will be contacted by a specialized CIA agent using the Russian password "Los espías americanos estamos locos" ("American spies are crazy").

The serial blends romantic comedy (Brigitte's banter with sports journalist Frank Minello) with Cold War espionage and nuclear weapons intrigue.
