This Spanish-language spy fiction features Brigitte Montfort, identified as "the world's best spy" working for the CIA. The narrative begins with Brigitte demonstrating exceptional fencing prowess at a New York fencing academy—she has taken only two weeks of lessons yet nearly defeats her expert instructor through intuitive reflexes. Called away by her superior, Uncle Charlie, she reports to CIA headquarters where Mister Cavanagh briefs her on an urgent mission.

Cavanagh shows her a cryptic fifteen-second microfilm depicting Chinese islands, fishing boats, a Chinese villa with gardens, and a statue of Buddha with unusual features (protruding forehead, enlarged ears, a third eye). Brigitte demonstrates extensive knowledge of Buddhist philosophy and history. The film, sent by "Taiwan-Five" (an American CIA operative in Formosa/Taiwan) and his Chinese assistant Lo Cheng, remains unexplained. Taiwan-Five and Lo Cheng have disappeared, though Lo Cheng radioed for help from Formosa's coast. Taiwan-One found the microfilm at a dead drop, discovering armed Chinese forces, speedboats, and signs of violent pursuit on the beach—suggesting Taiwan-Five and Lo Cheng were fleeing attackers.
