# "La Pesadilla de los Hipogeos" (Chapter One)

This prehistoric adventure narrative follows Tariik, a Lower Paleolithic clan leader confronting food scarcity during an advancing ice age. When game disappears, Tariik discovers mammoth tracks northward and orders his clan—weakened by hunger and cold—to abandon their secure cliff ravine and pursue the herds. During an eight-day journey marked by child deaths and suffering, the clan finally encounters a massive mammoth herd led by Dambor, a one-eyed bull seeking revenge against humans.

When Dambor directs weaker herd members to safety and attacks, the men form a defensive circle around their families. Using flint axes, they target the mammoths' eyes; Tariik personally confronts Dambor. As the massive beast charges with lowered head, Tariik—armed with flint axes in each hand—seizes an opening when Dambor's trunk drops and launches his first weapon with deadly precision. The narrative ends mid-combat, the outcome uncertain.
