# Ceylon Blue Book, 1914
This official administrative compendium documents the colonial governance and economic statistics of Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1914. Compiled by the Colonial Secretary's Office from official returns and printed in Colombo, the publication comprises comprehensive statistical records and administrative data for the entire island.
The volume systematically records population demographics (births, marriages, deaths by province), educational enrollment figures, agricultural production and land cultivation statistics, customs and shipping returns, public works expenditures and irrigation projects, railway and transportation infrastructure, government employment rosters with salary schedules, prison statistics, hospital returns, charitable institutions, currency and banking data, and comparative revenue/expenditure statements spanning multiple fiscal years. A lengthy index cross-references all statistical tables by district and administrative category. The appended "Statistical View of Ceylon's Progress" traces population growth, vital statistics, and educational development from 1828 through 1914, presented in tabular format organized chronologically.
