# Buffalo Bill Library, No. 406: "King of the Cougars"
This issue features the primary serial "King of the Cougars," an adventure story following Buffalo Bill Cody and his companion Frank Powell as they investigate the disappearance of Sheriff Ben Blunden near the town of Uvada. The scouts track Blunden into a mountain gorge where they discover his hat and evidence suggesting he was shot and dragged into a cave—apparently by fugitive criminal Buck Blunt. Inside the cave, they find Blunden's partially consumed remains, confirming foul play. Their investigation is interrupted by multiple mountain lions inhabiting the cave, and surprisingly, a human gunshot from deeper within the cavern. The narrative combines frontier detective work with wilderness survival and animal encounter elements typical of the pulp western adventure genre. The issue also contains period advertisements and educational correspondence-course promotions.
