New Worlds, Volume 6, Number 18 (November 1952)
This issue includes a novelette, three short stories, and the conclusion of a serial. The cover novelette "Unwanted Heritage" by Charles Gray depicts a human military garrison on Venus under strict Commander Harrison's harsh discipline. When soldier Lassiter is publicly flogged for fraternizing with a native Venusian woman, psychologist Ken Drayton confronts Harrison about the brutality and predicts Lassiter will desert. The story explores tension between military rule and scientific rationality, with the garrison's survival dependent on five-year occupation before Earth colonists arrive. Other contributions include stories by George London ("Of Those Who Came"), E. R. James ("Where No Man Walks"), and Stewart Winsor ("Weapons for Yesterday"). J. T. M'Intosh concludes his serial "The ESP Worlds." Additional features include an article by Leslie Floyd and editorial content. Edited by John Carnell.
