This October 1957 issue of New Worlds (Volume 22, No. 64) features a profile of Robert A. Heinlein and the lead story "The Menace from Earth," his first major science fiction short story in years, newly published in Britain. The issue includes three other short stories: D.M. Parks' "A Sudden Darkness," Bertram Chandler's "Sense of Wonder," and Lan Wright's "Mate in One"; the conclusion of Dan Morgan's serial "The Uninhibited"; and Kenneth Johns' article "The Solar Atmosphere." The editorial by John Cornell details the 15th World Science Fiction Convention held in London, attended by 250 delegates and featuring Guest of Honor John W. Campbell Jr., Arthur C. Clarke, and other authors. Heinlein's story opens with fifteen-year-old Holly Jones, born and raised in Luna City on the Moon, working as a tourist guide and aspiring spaceship designer, encountering an Earth visitor named Miss Brentwood.
