New Worlds Science Fiction #88

This issue of New Worlds (November 1959, Volume 30, No. 88) features four substantial works of science fiction. The novelette "Grapeliner" by James White describes revolutionary interplanetary travel technology involving modular passenger units ferried between Earth and Mars-bound vessels. "The Waiting Grounds" by J. G. Ballard, featured with an interview discussing Ballard's interest in science fiction's capacity to explore psychological and philosophical themes rather than conventional space adventure, presents an interplanetary narrative exploring "cosmic responsibility" through a paradoxical spatial model.
