# Real Western Romances, January 1955
This issue collects original Western romance fiction across several stories. The lead serial, "Slade Reardon's Yard" by Francis Flick, concerns Dorcas and her struggle against Slade Reardon's threat to the Taylor line. "Vallie Bond" by Mollie Medcraft features Vallie Bond attempting to persuade Sue, amid dangers of gunfire. Short stories include "Sad Vigilan[ce]" by Norman Daniels, where Paula faces accusations of being used as a catspaw; "Mountain Tr[ail]" by Jeanne Williams, where Lynn Lord cannot tolerate mistreatment of Jim's boys; "Pioneer Romance" by Jan Ryder, featuring Candace rejecting frontier life and Jim Braddock; "The [Reardon] Sidle Down" by Shelby Trent, where Dan Trail and brother Jamie both compete for Thalia's affections; and "Rodeo for Dolin" by Tod Harding, examining Dolly's dilemma when Mike's honor is threatened. All stories employ period Western settings with romantic conflict as their central narrative.
