Scientific Detective, July 1946

This July 1946 issue of Scientific Detective contains five stories centered on criminal investigations. The lead feature is "Murder Waits Till Midnight" by Andrew J. Collins, a Hollywood-themed whodunit in which detective Silk Saunders encounters his old neighbor Lois Lincoln, now a famous singer, at a Newark hotel bar. When she reveals she's being blackmailed by Walter Smith over indiscreet letters, Saunders agrees to help. Finding Smith murdered in his hotel room with circumstantial evidence implicating Lincoln, Saunders is knocked unconscious at the crime scene and awakens to police investigators led by Inspector Swift. The story's remaining titles suggest additional mysteries: "The Double Take" by Hamilton Allen, "Murder Is Never Perfect" by Glenn Low, "Murder Witness" by Ken Greene, and "The Lenton Croft Robberies" by Arthur Morrison featuring detective Martin Hewitt.
