# SPACEWAY STORIES OF THE FUTURE, December 1953

This issue features "The Osilans," a serial by Arthur J. Burks continuing from earlier chapters. The story follows Jay Bard, an amateur electronics hobbyist whose homemade oscillograph—a device that visualizes radio sound waves as patterns on a screen—begins displaying strange patterns unconnected to any broadcast signal. After repeated bizarre manifestations, the green line forms rings that visibly shoot off the screen when magnets are applied. When Bard listens through earphones, he hears thoughts in an unknown language. The phenomenon only occurs when he is alone; the oscillograph functions normally for visitors. Bard recognizes an intelligence deliberately communicating with him while hiding from witnesses. The issue also contains short stories by J.T. Oliver, Clide Beck, Atlantis Hallam, E. Everett Evans, and Stanton A. Coblentz, plus a novelet "Spaceways to Venus" by Charles Eric Maine and "The Glad Season" by Gene Hunter.
