The Saint Detective Magazine, June 1956

This June 1956 issue of Saint Detective Magazine features six mystery stories edited by Leslie Charteris. The lead story, "The Lovelorn Sheik" by Charteris himself, follows Simon Templar (the Saint) at a Cairo airport where a panicked stranger named Mortimer Usherdown begs him to pose as an old friend while two menacing Arabs, Talib and Abdullah, threaten nearby. Other stories include Dorothy L. Sayers's "A Case for Lord Peter Wimsey," David Dodge's "Murder Is No Accident" (coincidentally by the screenwriter of To Catch a Thief, which brought together Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier), E. Phillips Oppenheim's "Burglars Must Dine" set in London, Steve Fisher's "Cinderella Wore Black," and Isaac Asimov's "Death of a Honey-Blonde," which the editor notes was Asimov's first crime story. Additional stories by Christopher Bush, Michael Avallone, Ferdinand Reyher, and Ray Cummings complete the issue.
