When her husband Lewis discovers that Anna Moljinski—a woman Mabel had struck years ago in a hit-and-run incident and subsequently paid off—is alive and thriving, he demands a divorce, threatening her social standing and her goal of securing the Belgian Embassy. Other contributors include Edgar Wallace's "The Man Who Sang in Church," Octavus Roy Cohen's "The Buzzard," Louis Golding's "Stained Glass Windows," Hugh Wiley's "Conversation in Chinatown," and Charteris's own "The Five Thousand Pound Kiss."
