This issue features six serial stories and fourteen short stories, along with nine poems. H. Rider Haggard's "Morning Star" opens the magazine, set in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. Prince Abi, governor of Memphis, arrives at Thebes angry and consults the astrologer Kaku about his future. Kaku reads the stars and prophesies that two divine influences—the star of Amen and the star of Hathor (goddess of love)—will eventually eclipse Abi's fortunes after more than twenty years of power. Threatened initially, Abi rewards the astrologer with a gold cup for his honesty. Other serials include Maurice Hewlett's "Brazenhead in Milan," Charles Willing Beale's "Miss Jack of Tibet," and works by Bernice Strohm Ruth, Stephen Chalmers, and S. Carleton. Short stories range across various subjects, and contributors include James Francis Dwyer, Ludwig Lewisohn, and Philip S. Hichborn. A complete novel, "The Secret of the Sealed Packet" by Marvin Dana, is also included.
