Young Wild West at Devil Creek
The main story, credited to "An Old Scout," follows Young Wild West and his associates as they undertake a new venture. Wild and his friends—Jim Dart, Cheyenne Charlie, Jack Robedee, and Dove-Eye Dave—operate the Wild West Mining and Improvement Company, having successfully developed the town of Weston. When Lively Rick arrives representing Devil Creek, a struggling settlement of thirty-two inhabitants, he requests Wild's assistance in "booming" the town as a new mining settlement. Wild agrees to increase Devil Creek's population to 150 within sixty days in exchange for land. The narrative establishes the cast's experience in town development and hints at forthcoming challenges, including mentions of the Creek's population being composed of rough characters requiring management.
