Young Wild West Weekly, No. 627

Β· October 23, 1914

This issue features "Young Wild West's Hottest Trail," a Western adventure serial centered on kidnapping and rescue. Young Wild West, "Champion Deadshot of the West," arrives in Durango, Colorado with his partners Jim Dart and Cheyenne Charlie, their sweethearts Arietta Murdock and Eloise Gardner, and two Chinese servants, Hop Wah and Wing Wah. At the hotel, wealthy mine owner William Elwood approaches them desperately: his twelve-year-old son Billy was kidnapped four days prior by a bandit gang led by Doxey demanding $100,000. The local sheriff and fifteen men are searching unsuccessfully. Elwood offers a $10,000 reward for Billy's safe return within one week. Young Wild West accepts the case, confident he can locate the boy hidden in the mountain fastnesses along the trail to Elwood's mine, launching the adventure narrative.
