The fineness of the weather in- daced her to wander farther than she had at first intended, and she was re- torning hastily towards home, thinking that Mrs. Montmorency would be surprised at her lengthened absence, when she was astonished to hear her name repeated by some one behind, and turning round, her amazement and Gonfusion may be easily guessed, when she beheld Hugh Clifford ronning to- wards her.
