Mis’ Lacy !”’ they shrieked. ‘* Here’s some more 0’ ’em !”’ The struggle inside ceased, and four more women piled out of the door, with Bob and Treve after them. They ranged up beside the other two, while the three boys ran behind us. There was no time to exchange oreetings. ‘“Yere, Cute! Yere, Cute!” called one of the women. A great blear-eyed hound scrambled out from under the house. “Sic him! Sic him!” they shouted. He came toward us with open mouth. There could be no mistaking his object, so 1 moved my rifle until 1t covered a spot between his eyes, and pulled the trigger.
