84 SEALED LIPS, “Come to bed,” repeated the young man, putting his hand on his shoulder. “Do not stay——” Suddenly Godefroid turned around, and seizing Patrice by his wrists with unexpected strength, darting flashing glances from his haggard eyes, he screamed, almost making the room echo with bis voice: “You know !—that I love her—and I loved her before you ever saw her!” Patrice closed his eyesto keep from recoiling, and to remain master of himself before this insane man.
