This August 1931 issue of Fawcett's Battle Stories contains war narratives and fiction. Featured pieces include "Secrets of the Gun that Shelled Paris" by Lt. Col. Henry W. Miller, an account of the German long-range artillery piece; "The One-Man Army From Idaho" by Malcolm Douglas, detailing a decorated soldier from Jackson Hole; and "Charge of the Fort Garry Horse" by Frederick Thomson, recounting a Canadian cavalry raid into German territory. Two novelets are included: "Dead Man's Flight" by Frederick C. Painton, involving pilot Chris Haines in espionage, and "The Death Quartette" by Arthur Guy Empey, about vaudeville actors on the front. Additional battle stories feature combat situations and military heroism. The issue also contains war photography, illustrations, and department features. Advertisements promote vocational training programs and consumer products.
Each page has its own page — the cartoon, who’s in it, and what the satire means.
