About this issue

This issue of the pulp serial magazine features "The Red Rovers of the Revolution: A Tale of Romance and Adventure on Land and Sea" by Col. Prentiss Ingraham. The narrative opens at Elm Haven Mansion on the Massachusetts coast during the American Revolution. Lady Lucille Harwood, beautiful heiress of an aristocratic Tory family, agrees to marry the elderly British Admiral Lord Chester Chauncey in exchange for his pardon of Cecil Conrad, a young American sailor condemned to death for allegedly serving as a rebel spy. Conrad, the "Boy Life Saver," had previously rescued Lucille from drowning. Meanwhile, Conrad's widowed mother at The Refuge estate learns her son remains chained aboard the cruiser Sea Foe awaiting execution. A mysterious man visits her, suggesting rescue is possible despite Conrad's imprisonment below decks. The narrative interweaves romantic tension, colonial politics, and maritime adventure.
