About this issue

By Jos. E. Badger, Jr., this frontier adventure serial follows young trappers Dainty Lance and Hardy Zeph searching for Sibyl, the hermit's daughter whom they love. After being drugged and abandoned, they track her to the Plain Crees territory. From concealment, they witness a remarkable warrior—revealed as a woman called the Wolf Queen or Netawaka—bare-handedly fighting four wolves of different species. When a party led by the supposedly-dead villain Dirk Weeninx arrives seeking Sibyl, the Wolf Queen defends herself with bow and arrows, killing two attacking Indians while Zeph and Lance watch, debating intervention. The narrative combines wilderness survival, romance, and combat action typical of the period's pulp adventure fiction.
