About this issue

This issue features six complete aviation adventure stories plus special features. The lead novel, "Flight of the Vultures" by Robert J. Hogan, follows the Red Falcon (Barry Rand) and his black aide Sika as they investigate mysterious black gas clouds being deployed over Allied trenches. A mysterious figure called the Black Baron—a black-faced German officer—has created a duplicate of the Red Falcon's red plane to impersonate him and frame him for atrocities he plans to commit, intending to force Allied surrender within forty-eight hours. Additional stories include "Old Man Wings" by Orlando Rigoni about a squadron leader relying on guts; "Pigeons and Eagles" by William Hartley featuring Sammy Randall; "Murder Walks the Wings" by Leo Vincent about gunfire and danger; "Patrol of the Wise Guy" by Larry Jones; "The Dead Fly On" by Robert Sidney Bowen about war's aftermath; and "Good Morning, Satan" by Darrell Jordan. Technical features cover chasing and dive-bombing aircraft maneuvers and assembly techniques.
