This issue of Detective Weekly (No. 340, August 26, 1939) features the complete detective story "Simon Kern Pays in Full," in which Sexton Blake confronts the criminal "Waldo the Wonder-Man." The issue also includes a true-crime article, "The Dog Knew," recounting a Baltimore murder case where a distressed dog's behavior led police to a dismembered body and the arrest of Frank Marco for the killing of red-haired Evelyn Rice.
