30 Days of Night: Three Tales #[nn]
The *30 Days of Night* universe takes a chilling turn with this IDW one-shot, *Dead Space*, whose cover immediately signals that the vampire terror has left Earth behind — a monstrous, snarling creature looms large, wearing what appears to be a military helmet adorned with an American flag patch, its gaping maw ringed with red, glowing teeth, while a lone figure stands in shadow to the right and the Earth itself floats small and vulnerable at the bottom of the frame. The stark, almost monochromatic palette punctuated by those blood-red highlights gives the whole image a deeply unsettling atmosphere. It's a striking 2006 package from IDW that suggests no corner of existence — not even the void above us — is safe from the darkness.
