A Couple of Cuckoos #4

Volume 4 of Miki Yoshikawa's romantic comedy finds two school-age girls caught mid-scramble outside what looks like a school building — the blonde twin-tailed girl in the foreground has a piece of toast clenched between her teeth, wide violet eyes radiating pure panic, while her shorter, bob-haired companion looks equally startled behind her. It's a wonderfully chaotic snapshot of the series' signature blend of comedy and teenage awkwardness, rendered with Yoshikawa's lively, expressive linework. Pika Édition's 2022 release keeps the energy high for fans already swept up in this endearing mix-up rom-com.
