Mickey is a struggling screenwriter in twenties Hollywood, writing scripts for a heroic dog. As he struggles to find new ideas for the canine's producer, he becomes embroiled in a mystery involving a missing newly discovered Shakespeare manuscript and the woman who may have taken it, a woman he can only identify by a haunting melody.
